Why Spices Are Great For The Mornings + Our Favorite Breakfast Hack

Spices are loaded with countless health benefits. They are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, gut healing, cognition boosting, and even can aid in preventing anxiety and depression. There isn't a better superfood.  Starting the day with spices will kick start the body's circulation & digestion, and give your brain a cognitive boost.  And, our easiest breakfast hack: add Dona Chai or Turmeric to your oatmeal or overnight oats for an instant, flavorful bowl, with health-boosting properties. 

Turmeric: anti-inflammatory, gut healing, pro-brain health

Cinnamon: antimicrobial, cardio-protective, anti-diabetes

Cardamom: anti-nausea, antibacterial, antioxidant 

Black Pepper: digestion health, anti-inflammatory, aids in turmeric absorption

Ginger: anti-inflammatory, digestion health, aids in circulation

Cloves: antioxidant, anti-cancer, antimicrobial

Dona Chai Overnight Oats 

Yields 2 bowls

1 cup steel cut oats

¼ c Dona Chai

1 ¼ c almond milk (or milk of choice)

1 T honey

 Chopped pistachios

Combine oats, Dona Chai, almond milk and honey in a small bowl. Stir, cover, and refrigerate overnight. To serve, divide into two bowls and garnish pistachios.
